Portrait of Paul Barlow

Paul Barlow Ph.D. is professor of structural biology at the University of Edinburgh. Paul’s research focuses on the proteins of the human complement system, with a particular focus on its regulatory proteins.

Paul’s research into the structure and function of CFH (and its individual domains) has generated important insights into the consequences of genetic variations associated with human diseases including aHUS, C3G and AMD. This work has also generated technologies useful for producing, assaying and modulating the efficacy of complement regulatory proteins.
